Faces and Stories Collage
Something a little different because it's always good to try something different from time to time. Something that requires a different thought pattern isn't necessarily easier however it is often just as enthralling an adventure. Rainy Day
Moody Vintage created with several of my photos taken on and around Waterloo Bridge. I love to create moods and though I love to create bold, colourful original art, prints and canvas art, sometimes it is nice to be able to use a combination of artsy textures to distress the scene and create the mood that I want. The texture in this piece makes it a great candidate for canvas.

A Sense of Time
London- Urban Stories.
This composition has around 30 different layers, including five of my photographs which I duplicated and set at different opacities. In this art piece you can see Westminster Palace (I was standing on Westminster Bridge to take it), Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral, Somerset House, and London's signature red telephone boxes which I took in Lincoln's in Fields. I was lucky to have an almost perfect shot of a London Black Taxi - unobstructed for a change! I love to include the Union flag (or as it's also called, the Union Jack) just to add that little touch of recognizable UK. I love to work with these artsy plaster backgrounds... along with the paint the roughness complements the grungy and somewhat nostalgic direction in which the work took me. Also this is part of a series. At first I thought this piece wasn't going to come together. Sometimes it takes a few versions or tries to get what I am looking for. I always feel that little sigh of relief when I feel it start "happening" in the scene...londonlandmarknostalgiaarchitectureallimageslondonlandscapescityscapesurbanst paulscathedralunionflagsomersethousewestminsterbridgebigbenredtelephoneboxcabbiewestminsterpalacenickyjameson

Arcade Light, London
Walk through the arcade to the light. London is dotted with beautiful arcades (some abandoned, some busy shopping malls), which are truly works of art in an of themselves. They are also wonderful examples of architecture, with vaulted ceilings, beautiful ornate ceilings and stunning lights. I always find I stumble upon them, rather than go looking for them... This particular composite features photos of a couple of arcades, including the famous Leadenhall Market. It's very subtly blended with the different elements in this artwork piece as my focus was more on the perspective and light which I loved. Look forward to a series on the Leadenhall in the near future.

Russell Square
Russell Square, London
It's a weird feeling when bad things happen in places you happen to know well, and I know Russell Square in London very well and have great memories of lovely sunny days spent in the beautiful and peaceful little park just behind the telephone box in my composite. The architecture of the buildings in Russell Square is simply stunning too. So it was surreal following the events that unfolded that fateful evening knowing that it would never quite be the same. Russell Square became the latest hashtag. I created this artwork starting with four of my photos taken in Russell Square, beginning in 2013, 2014 and 2015. I had a vision for what I wanted to say, but initially struggled with how to say it and connect with the feelings through the art. In the end, rather than trying to control the direction I let my vision lead me in the direction it clearly wanted to go and felt my way through, keeping it essentially bold and grungy. There are over 60 different layers in this piece and each layer and element has a purpose and a place. "Russell Square" piece is designed to be a 12 x 12" canvas or metal print and is available for purchase in the shop!londonukrussellsquarerussellsqlandmarkartchitecturecityscapeurbantelephone boxredrosesflowersgrungetexturepetalsartworkwall printmetalprintcanvasprintnickyjamesoncontemporaryartphotographywhitebluenickyjamesonart

Spattered Skyline
Toronto Skyline looking East with CN Tower, railway lines and architecture leading lines, composite artwork. There is more than one way to see (or create) a Skyline. You're probably familiar with seeing Toronto's skyline from the water, or the Islands.
My latest urban grunge artwork takes on the CN Tower and an alternative view of the Toronto skyline. Composed of 4 of my photos and various layers, brushes, blend modes and filters the sketch technique just seemed to draw out all the lines and the perspective in the way I wanted. I took the photos back in February standing on a footbridge looking East...and I had to be far enough away from the CN Tower to get all of its height yet also get detail in the buildings. To get the extended skyline I duplicated, flipped and masked the same photo from a different angle from a different angle, adding blending and layers to add some interest to the sky. In an almost monotone art piece, a splash of red splatters the urban landscape...torontocntowercanadarailwaylinesskylinegrungegrungyartworkdarkredmonotonegreenbluedowntowncityscapeurbanlandscapenickyjamesonartistrywallartmetalcanvasart prints

Knowledge
Library Nights.
Photo composite of three of my photographs and textured layers, creates intersecting leading lines to depict the feeling I have of being in the library, a world of books.
Books were, and still are, doors to other worlds and lives, an escape into a world of adventure and dreams, enlightenment and guidance.
And the local library (with hundreds of books, comfy chairs and silence) was my destination. "Knowledge" for me evokes many of those happy feelings. I created it from four of my photographs, two of the inside of Clapham Library in London, which is one of the most unusual buildings I've ever been in... it's built in a spiral with all the books along the sides, not on shelves like your typical library.londonlibraryclaphamnickjameson art photographyfine art photographyurbanbookshelfbooksspaceknowldegedreamsstarshomedigital artistrynickyjamesontexturesgrunge

Quiet Street in Bishopsgate
Through a park, under a bridge and a stone's throw from the Gherkin and Cheese Grater I discover this quiet street with more beautiful architecture in London's Bishopsgate, with the City's distinctive bollards in City of London colours and pillar box just waiting for my love of symmetry to appreciate them.
