A Sense of Time
London- Urban Stories.
This composition has around 30 different layers, including five of my photographs which I duplicated and set at different opacities. In this art piece you can see Westminster Palace (I was standing on Westminster Bridge to take it), Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral, Somerset House, and London's signature red telephone boxes which I took in Lincoln's in Fields. I was lucky to have an almost perfect shot of a London Black Taxi - unobstructed for a change! I love to include the Union flag (or as it's also called, the Union Jack) just to add that little touch of recognizable UK. I love to work with these artsy plaster backgrounds... along with the paint the roughness complements the grungy and somewhat nostalgic direction in which the work took me. Also this is part of a series. At first I thought this piece wasn't going to come together. Sometimes it takes a few versions or tries to get what I am looking for. I always feel that little sigh of relief when I feel it start "happening" in the scene...
